Curaçao is an island to explore, and most of the best beaches are on the west coast. Two airport rides to Willemstad already cost about $110 by taxi, more than three days in an economy car. Every beach day and every dinner out adds two more rides.
A taxi still makes sense when you land late at night or plan to drink at dinner. The legal limit on Curaçao is 0.5 per mille.

What a taxi costs on Curaçao
Drivers charge a fixed price per car for up to four passengers with luggage. Daytime fares, one way:

Five things to know
Agree the price before you get in and check that it is per car, not per person.
Licensed taxis have a license plate that starts with TX. The driver must carry the permit and proof of insurance.
In July 2026 the transport authority UOVV confirmed that paid rides via Uber, social media or apps without a permit are illegal. You may not be insured.
Maximum fares were set in 2008, but the list is not published online. Prices differ per driver.
Most taxis take cash only, in US dollars or Caribbean guilders. Some apps accept cards.
